Hello Sookie, I’m going through a Saturn return and I feel like my life is falling apart. I lost my job, my relationship ended, and I had to move back home. Is this normal? Did I do something wrong? - Lost and Confused

Dear Lost and Confused, take a second and take a deep breath.
Because what’s happening to you right now? The job loss, the breakup, moving back home?
It’s not punishment from the universe.
You didn’t fail at life.
You’re in the middle of your Saturn return, and honestly, this is exactly what it’s supposed to feel like.
I know that’s not particularly comforting when you’re scrolling through everyone else’s instagram and Facebook reels while eating cereal in your parents kitchen.
But here’s the truth, and I’m speaking from my own experience:
Saturn. Doesn't. Do. Gentle. Nudges.
He’s the friend who loves you enough to tell you your relationship is shit and your job is draining your soul. Except, instead of just telling you, he straight up dismantles it all.
Lovely, right? (Yeah, shitty deal. I get it).
What Saturn Actually Wants From You
Saturn returns happen roughly between the ages of 28 (and again around 58-60). Think of it as your graduation into adulting in real time. Up until now, you’ve been trying things on - like your careers, relationships, versions of yourself - to see what aligns and fits.
Saturn walks in, takes one look around, and says, “Cool. Now show me what’s actually real.”
Anything built on shaky ground? Gone.
Anything that worked for 25 year old you but doesn’t serve who you’re becoming? Saturn’s taking a sledgehammer to it.
Think of this as the renovation for your entire life. Yup, it’s super messy. It’s expensive (emotionally, definitely).
But when the dust settles, what’s left is actually built to last.
I'm here to tell you that you didn’t mess anything up.
I know part of you is wondering if this is all happening because you made wrong choices, or you weren’t good enough, or somehow failed at the life thing.
Thats not what’s happening here.
Saturn doesn’t show up to shame you. He shows up to strengthen you and toughen you up.
The fact that everything is shifting means you’re actually doing the work and evolving. Some people spend decades avoiding these lessons, reacting the same patterns over and over again.
But the fact that your life is actively rearranging itself? Thats movement and growth.
Even when it feels like everything is on fire.
Saturn takes his sweet time (29.5 years to orbit the Sun), so this isn’t a quick process. The pressure usually builds over 2-3 years, with major turning points around your exact return.
But once you make it through? You emerge different.
More grounded. Almost like a Phoenix, rising from the ashes.
With a life that actually matches who you are instead of who you thought you were supposed to be.
Here’s what I’ve done to work with this energy:
Stop trying to rebuild the old.
Saturn isn’t trying to return you to your previous life. He’s clearing space for what comes next.
The job you had, the relationship that ended, they served their purpose. Let them go.
Get curious instead of catastrophizing.
Ask yourself:
What wasn’t working in that job?
What part of the relationship was you settling?
Whats the truth you’ve been avoiding about what you actually need?
Study your nodes (I’ll write a separate post about them later).
Learn about your North Node sign and house. Journal on it.
How can you embody more of that energy right now, even in small ways?
What would it look like if you trusted the pull?
Think in years, not weeks.
Saturn rewards commitments and consistency. Even in tiny steps toward a bigger vision will feel supported right now. You have to play the long game.
Let yourself be in the cocoon.
Moving back home isn’t a failure. Sometimes you need to go backward to gather what you need for the next leap forward. There’s no shame in that. Take the time to regroup in your safe space.
Just remember, you’re not broken and your life isn't over. You're in the most sacred part of your transformation.
It’s the part where your old self gets composted so something truer can grow.
And it’ll be uncomfortable as hell, but on the other side of this Saturn return, you’re going to look back and realize that this wasn’t an ending, it’s the beginning of everything real.
You’re doing better than you think. Especially on the hard days.
Sookie Xx
